Meghan & William’s Wedding at the Chatham Fairgrounds in Chatham NY
What a unique venue - this beautiful barn wedding was held right on the fairgrounds in Chatham NY. Cocktail hour was held in one of the livestock show rings (recently paved!). There was an old yellow antique pickup truck and William's fishing boat was used for the beer kegs. There were burlap table runners and burlap wraps around poles for the floral arrangements in the cocktail area.

Tina & Marco’s Wedding – Cascades in Hamden CT – Event Lighting
Tina & Marco had about 300 guests for their wedding at Cascades in Hamden CT. We did not provide DJ services, but were there just for our event lighting. We up-lit the room with our LED wash lighting. We also placed pinspots on the cake and gift tables.

How To Light Your Wedding Reception Venue
We've all seen "Platinum Weddings" and "My Fair Wedding" with David Tutera. The wedding receptions that are captured for these TV shows are stunning. Although you may not have the $300,000 wedding budgets that these shows portray, you can still make your reception amazing with the use of lighting.
There are a few things to consider when lighting your wedding reception venue. Lighting can be broken down into a couple key elements. First, you have the uplighting or wall wash. Think of that as the background of a photo. Then, you have your monogram gobo projection or "name in lights". Then there are pin spots to highlight key elements like table centerpieces, your wedding cake or your sweetheart table. You top it all off with a dance floor or ceiling wash and patterned or "texture" lighting.
Examples of Wash Lighting or Uplighitng (Prices starting around $600)
Here are examples of monogram lights or "custom name in lights" gobo projections (Priced around $250):
You can pinspot table centerpieces (Pricing around $30 per table):
Add in some texture lighting on the ceiling or dance floor or even on the airwall (Prices starting around $300):
By using each of these elements, you keep the room well lit and eliminate dark areas in your reception hall. With lighting you can choose to keep your lighting static (or unchanged) throughout the event or for a little more money can have your lighting shift over time to different color settings. Maybe it's teal for dinner, red for dancing and amber for cocktail hour.

Wedding Reception Event Lighting And Up-lighting (Uplighting) Ideas
This is the era of TV Wedding planning shows – Platinum Weddings, My Fair Wedding, Say Yes To The Dress and Four Weddings. There are so many great wedding planning ideas that are presented. One of the biggest wedding trends for 2010 is the use of lighting at your reception.
You can turn an otherwise boring reception hall into an amazing display of light and color to help accentuate your wedding color scheme. You can make your wedding color pallet come to life. Having Red Flowers? Use the complimentary color – green or light green on the walls to make them pop. Bridesmaids dresses are eggplant? Use a lighter lavender on the wall to give them more of a 3rd dimension as the bridal party enters. Ugly wall in your facility? You can paint the wall any color you like with up-lighting
Wedding event lighting can also take the form of texture lighting. Custom light patterns or gobos can be made to mimic your cake design, invitation pattern or to give character to an otherwise boring space. Maybe you want to project stars on the ceiling of your wedding reception venue? With a few theatrical projection lighting fixtures, high output LED uplights or par can event lights, you can transform a low-end facility into a high-end looking wedding venue.
There are many wedding reception lighting ideas that we can talk about. Using a custom gobo light pattern or “your name in lights”, you can personalize your wedding with your initials, name or wedding date. You can dress up your wedding cake by focusing a wedding gobo on the wall. You can place your name in lights on the dance floor or wall above your head table
You can highlight architectural features with event lighting using LED up-lighting fixtures or conventional par cans as your uplights. Using event lighting at your wedding, you can make columns stand out, fireplaces come alive, lounge areas take on a new feel, dead space becomes artwork, your wedding cake is backlit. Lighting can completely transform your wedding reception.

Barbara & Andrew Renew Wedding Vows At The Federal In Agawam
Barbara & Andrew were married back on July 2, 2005. On the 4th of July, they renewed their vows and celebrated with their friends and family at The Federal in Agawam, MA. The Federal is a unique facility - there were 2 separate dining areas, a central bar area where I was setup, and they utilized the back lawn for social hour and for lawn games for the kids.
Barbara actually was heavily involved in choosing the music for her day. She hand selected every song for both social and after dinner (no real dancing). Barbara set the tone of her event by choosing some of her favorite oldies and classic tunes from their past. They even used vintage vinyl albums as their guest book. Leah from Robert Charles Photography was there to capture the candids for the day.
We provided music in the bar/dance area. We also had remote wireless speakers in both the dining rooms and outside social hour. We also put up a couple par cans as up-lighting behind the head table and at the entrance where guests picked up their rock place cards and signed the vintage albums as their guest book. Kara & Conor’s Wedding Under Tent At The Amherst Women’s Club
Kara & Conor had a gorgeous day in Amherst, MA at the Amherst Women's Club for their wedding reception. Cocktail hour was inside this historic building and on the wrap around porch. Dinner and dancing were under tent - they decorated the tent with paper lanterns and we provided the custom LED lighting for the tent and dance floor.
Kara's mom was the one that insisted on event lighting for the wedding and I'm sure in the end everyone realized what an impact lighting had on this space.

Jessica & Frank – The Riverview in Simsbury, CT
Jessica & Frank contracted us to provide event lighting for their wedding at The Riverview in Simsbury, CT. They had an AMAZING WEDDING BAND (best band I've heard - and that is high praise coming from a DJ) - Live Wire NY. We had the pleasure of working with Candice from Jubilee Events as their wedding planner and Johnny Arguedas from Arguedas Photography (photos below ARE NOT his - check our other postings for some of Johnny's amazing work). Their florist was Datura from A Modern Garden.
We provided the LED wash uplighting around the ballroom. We had 2 plasma screens on stands in the cocktail hour area for their slide show. We had a custom gobo with their name in lights above the band. We also had custom paisley pattern gobos projected on the airwall in the back of the room. We even had lighting for both the band on stage and the dance floor.
